More than 600 guests attended Friendship Home’s 11th Annual Circle of Friends Gala at Lombardo’s in Randolph and raised more than $515,000 for its programs and services that enrich the lives of adults with developmental disabilities and their families. Duxbury residents Karen and Michael Barry were this year’s Gala Chairs. The Gala showcased the talents of several Friendship Home members -- Julie Ann O’Connell, along with family and friends, opened the evening with a performance of “Proud to be an American.” Keynote speaker Shannon Driscoll, one of Friendship Home’s original members, spoke from her heart about the importance Friendship Home has in her life. And, participants of Friendship Home’s Bridges to Work program made crafts and note cards and donated all proceeds to the Gala. “Year after year, we are amazed by the generosity of our Circle of Friends who support the mission of Friendship Home. All of our sponsors, volunteers, donors and attendees have our heartfelt thanks and appreciation,’’ said Andrea Pyke, Executive Director. This year marks Friendship Home’s 20th Anniversary. The nonprofit organization in Norwell has grown substantially since its founding in 1999 and now serves more than 200 families throughout the South Shore and beyond with employment, social/recreational and overnight respite programs.
