-Partnership with Harbor Media offers Norwell residents original public programming, educational content and continued governmental transparency- NORWELL, MA (April 4, 2019) - The town of Norwell has finalized a partnership with Hingham-based Harbor Media forming a new, dedicated Norwell Spotlight TV (NSTV) team to oversee PEG (Public, Education, and Government) television programming for residents. The town is expanding coverage of government meetings and for the first time is producing public and educational content for home and online viewers. “We are thrilled to offer the community a more robust selection of hyper-local programming while we continue to broadcast the local board and committee meetings,” said Stephen Muzrall, chairman of the Norwell Cable Committee. “With important issues being presented and decided every week, and the Federal Communication Commission’s looming vote on PEG funding, it is important to increase the quality and quantity of our coverage now. Harbor Media brings expertise and a proven track record in creating public and educational content that will enrich the lives of our residents.” An official NSTV launch party is planned for the community on Thursday, April 4th from 4 to 6 p.m. in the Osborn Room at Norwell Town Hall. All ages are welcome to attend and will view premiere episodes of original shows, meet local TV hosts as well as town officials. The Norwell Board of Selectmen declared the day NSTV Day. “This is an exciting time for Norwell residents,” said Farzad Wafapoor, executive director of Harbor Media. “The community is rich with ideas and people who want to share their passions and experiences with others. We provide the equipment, training, and resources to make that a reality benefiting the entire community.” The newly-formed NSTV has quickly ramped up production by partnering with a number of community organizations including The James Library, The Norwell Historical Society, The North and South Rivers Watershed Association, The South Shore Science Center, The Company Theatre, Friendship Home and local cooking and travel enthusiasts Abigail Gray and Megan Butow. These original and hyperlocal programs showcase artists, culinary and cultural adventures, environmental issues and behind-the-scenes tours of long-cherished, historic homes. “Working with the NSTV crew has really extended the Norwell Historical Society’s reach,” said Wendy Bawabe, president of the chapter. “We offer in-person tours of many antique properties in town and creating Beyond the Doors offers exposure to a whole new audience both on television and online. We have a great time making the episodes!” As a non-profit organization, Harbor Media has provided PEG television services for Hingham since 2011 and is overseen by a voluntary board of directors. The team is dedicated to creating programming that matters, teaching media arts and helping community members create their own shows. NSTV operates pubic and educational content on Comcast 22 and Verizon 39 and government meetings are aired live and rebroadcast on Comcast 9 and Verizon 40.
