Perry attends the IBS conference almost every year, and over the years, he has helped more than 200 colleges obtain their FCC radio licenses. At this year’s conference, he will serve on three panel discussions. On Friday, Feb. 24, he will discuss “Working with the FCC” with fellow panelist, Allen Myers, a former FCC employee and current IBS Board Member. The panel’s premise as described on the IBS agenda, says, “The FCC has a reputation – but is it really that horrible to work WITH them instead of AGAINST them? Our panel will discuss when you need to contact the FCC, license renewal issues, obscenity and indecency concerns, and answer any other FCC-related questions you may have.” On Saturday, Feb. 25, Perry will speak to college broadcasters on “Building an Audience To Attract Advertisers/Underwriters.” The IBS description for his talk says, “At the college radio level, you probably aren’t thinking about attracting advertisers. But you SHOULD be. Prepare for the future, when every decision made on the air is determined by the target demographic you are trying to attract, and more importantly, the demographic advertisers are also trying to attract. Listen for tips on how to re-think how you present your shows with the goal of getting businesses to sponsor what you are doing – and help them be successful with their advertising.” Also on the Saturday IBS agenda is a panel discussion with Perry on “The Things You Can’t Say on The Radio – and WHY!” Again, his fellow panelist will be Allen Myers. The panel description says, “We are all aware of George Carlin’s “Seven Dirty Words” – but what else can we NOT say on the air, and what happens if you DO slip? Should you invest in a time-delay DUMP button? If you have questions, our panel has answers.” ### About WATD WATD 95.9 FM, Marshfield, MA, “the (Massachusetts) South Shore’s radio station,” is one of the most respected and honored radio stations in New England.
