FAIRHAVEN, MA – September 27, 2021 – First Citizens’ Federal Credit Union in Hanover will hold a Community Food Drive starting October 1st to benefit both the Hanover Food Pantry and End Hunger NE. First Citizens’ is hosting this food drive during the month of October to ensure that our neighbors don't have to go to bed hungry. According to the Greater Boston Food Bank, Eastern Massachusetts is seeing an increase in food insecurity with a projected 66% increase in the number of people struggling which means that 1 in 8 individuals are now food insecure in our communities. The community can join First Citizens’ in this effort in two ways. First, by donating canned goods and non-perishable foods and items such as canned meat and soup, pasta, cereal, rice, canned vegetables and snacks. Food collection boxes will be available at First Citizens’ Hanover location on 1095 Washington Street all month long. All food items collected will be delivered to the Hanover Food Pantry. The community can also help by donating online to End Hunger NE, a non-profit organization in Pembroke that organizes food packaging events to feed those who hunger in our neighborhoods. To make an online donation visit www.endhungerne.org. Stop by our Hanover location or visit www.firstcitizens.org for more information.
