Celebrating the successful completion of their two-year program of study, 50 graduates of Quincy College’s Associate’s degree in nursing program were honored at the program’s traditional pinning ceremony on May 14. The ceremony at Quincy High School’s Lloyd Hill Auditorium, held just days prior to the College’s 2024 Commencement, marked the culmination of students’ classroom instruction and clinical training and formally represents their transition from student to nurse. The ceremony concluded with students reciting the International Council of Nurses’ Pledge, which affirms the common goals of nurses around the world. During his congratulatory remarks, Quincy College President Dr. Richard DeCristofaro quoted poet Maya Angelou: “When you become a nurse, you have the opportunity to heal the heart, the mind, the soul and the body of your patients, their families and yourself.” He added, “You will realize that patients may forget your name, but they will never forget how you made them feel.” In addition to its two-year Associate’s degree program, Quincy College also offers a 10-month certificate program for those seeking a career in Practical Nursing.
